George’s father died when George was 8 and he was raised by a single mother who was a wonderful role model and taught George the importance of serving with a thankful heart.

George knows first hand what it’s like to go without during the Christmas season and beyond. “It got to the point it was pretty bad,” George reflects on the financial struggles his mom endured to make things meet. “Fortunately for me, I had a mom of great faith who just continued to tell me that I could accomplish anything in my life, or my dreams, that I wanted to, if I had faith and if I worked hard.”

The George Shinn Foundation regularly works with ministries and non-profits to donate shoes to the needy as part of its ongoing philanthropic work.
